On Saturday, 21st of April 2018, Belgrade Business International Case Competition 2018 has officially terminated.
In total, 100 students and their advisors from 20 universities from USA, Australia, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Hungary, Croatia, Lebanon, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Thailand have been solving three case studies as a part of sixth Belgrade Business International Case Competition 2018. BBICC was held from 15th until 21st of April, organized by the Faculty of organizational sciences (FOS) in Belgrade and the biggest student management consulting organization Case Study Club.
The first short case study that students have been cracking for 5 hours was provided by a company which is global specialist in energy management and automation, Schneider Electric, and the task was about creating a strategy for e-business. The second short case study was provided by a company Paneleven Group, where students had to choose an adequate technology and adequate business model for the crypto currency xCEEdium. Company Paneleven specializes in cross-border marketing, distribution, project and software development and integration, establishing long-term relationships with leading companies in the key markets within these regions. The third, long case study provided by Telekom Srbija students have been cracking for 24 hours. Telekom Srbija is a modern, entirely locally-owned telecommunications company, which for 20 years now, has had a leading role in fixed and mobile telephony, the Internet and multimedia spheres both in this country and the region at large. The task provided by the company was about making up for the declining revenue from the fixed telephony, and finding a way to include ‘’Internet Of Things’’ into their offerings. Teams had the opportunity to present their solutions to the respected jury, consisting of the representatives from the Government of the Republic of Serbia, top managers and consultants of the leading companies from Serbia. Members of the jury panel in competition finals were: Filip Bankovic, CTO of Telekom Serbia, Milan Simic, CIO of Telekom Serbia, Nemanja Ognjanovic, Manager of Core and Technology Strategy Department, Mila Milenkovic, Head of Digital Innovations and Applications Department, Veronika Tasić Vušurović, Managing Director of Digital Serbia Initiative, Milan Petrovic, CEO of Fleet Partner, Nenad Paunovic, IT & Entrepreneurship Team Director of the Government of Serbia, Aleksandar Međedović, Board member of 10x Digital UG and Diana Gligorijevic, CMO, Member of the Board of Telegroup.
‘’I think that all of them should be proud of the new ideas that they succeeded to generate in only 24 hours. Our teams work on solutions for weeks, for months, and we got almost the same quality of solutions.’’, said Milan Simić, executive director for the IT support and ICT services of Telekom Serbia.
‘’It was a lot of practice working together as a team, trying to come up with the best solution possible even when we were a few hours in and had some ideas, making sure that it was really a right idea. We were changing chorus even though we were halfway through the case helped make sure that we were successful. It was interesting to see how even the leading company in industry has so much to ask a group of students like ourselves. We loved the competition, it’s been amazing’’, said Elieen Smith, a competitor from the winning team The Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business, Queen’s University from Canada.
Winner of BBICC 2018 is The Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. Second placed is Foster School of Business, University of Washington, and the third place went to American University of Beirut. Special award for the best speaker was awarded to Preston Gulledge, a student from Foster School of Business, University of Washington from the USA.
The best students of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences were again this year a part of the Organizing committee of BBICC 2018, under the guidance of Vesna Damnjanovic and co-chairs Natasa Vladisavljevic and Marko Damnjanovic, as well as the executive board which consisted of: Ema Neskovic, Milan Okanovic, Milos Milosavljevic, Sandra Jednak, Nemanja Jevtovic and Tijana Stefanovic. Apart from this, 20 ambassadors – students of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences took care of each and every team during the competition. All of them have contributed to making sixth BBICC 2018 a successful competition once again, and this year the competition was brought to another level, while maintaining the its position among top 12 international case competitions according to the ranking of the University of Oakland.
BBICC 2018 was organized with the help of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, led by Professor dr Milija Suknovic, dean of Faculty of Organizational Sciences and president of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences Council Professor dr Milan Martic.
