Еramus+ Project gathered professors and students from Lithuania and Island at FOS

Over the last two years, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, Vilnius University from Lithuania and the University of Iceland have actively been working together as part of the Erasmus+ project for higher education, Projectification and Sustainable Governance of Projects.

From the 7thto the 9th of February 2022, a delegation of professors and master students from these institutions gathered at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences to carry out a study course, the aim of which was to engage the students and faculties together in a course designed to educate on and develop ideas related to project management through case studies and their actuation in real terms.

Over a period of three days, 9 students (Sonata Adomaitienė from Lithuania, Þórða Berg Óskarsdóttir and Ragnheiður Ásta Brynjólfsdóttir from Iceland as well as Tamara Šonjić, Sara Plazić, Aleksa Miladinović, Sanja Stefanović, Teodora Stefanović and Sara Savićević from Serbia) representing the University of Belgrade, Vilnius  University and the University of Iceland participated in a series of classes specifically tailored for the meeting, led by professors, Inga Minelgaite (University of Iceland), Taurimas Valys and Andrius Valciukas (Vilnius University) as well as Dragan Bjelica, Marko Mihić, and Dejan Petrović (University of Belgrade).

For this occassion, Aleksandra Gajovic, member of Environmental Protection Committee of Municipality of Arilje, also presented local community issues that concerns sustainability and project management.

After having worked together and reviewing the case studies provided, the students made short project proposals in three areas related to green initiatives affecting the city of Belgrade: wastewater treatment, the development and establishment of a public bicycle system and the greening of buildings. Upon completion, the professors reviewed and evaluated the students’ proposed projects, deriving conclusions that could be applied in project management and development of the greening of urban areas.

After the formal part, foreign delegation was given a tour of the Faculty capacities and R&D Hub, but also a chance to explore the city of Belgrade.

The foreign delegations attended Faculty management presentations given by the Vice Dean for strategic development and cooperation with companies, professor Marko Mihić, Vice Dean for International Cooperations, professor Sandra Jednak, Vice Dean for  Scientific Research, professor Veljko Jeremić and Vice Dean for Digitalization, professor Dušan Barać.

The meeting of these three higher education institutions was successfully closed, students came away with a deeper understanding of the project management. Moreover, the ties between these institutions were reinforced which shall lead to further cooperation and coordination in the future.

The following meetings under this Erasmus+ project are to be held in May 2022, in Reykjavik, Iceland and in October 2022 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
