International Summer School successfully held at FON

The Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade, organized the international summer school “Data Empowering Business” from 10 to 15 July 2023.

The international summer school was attended by 20 students from five different countries: Germany, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

The six-day program consisted of interactive and hands-on workshops designed to guide students through the phases of realization of data science projects. Through teamwork on a business case study assigned by the partner company Carnex, the participants went through the phases of understanding the business problem, visualization, analysis and data preparation, modeling and model implementation, and provided suggestions for improving the business based on data.

A round table discussion on the topic of Career Development in Data Sciences and Business Analytics was held within the summer school. The panelists included Prof. Ivan Luković, Ph.D., a full professor at FON; Prof. Ivana Mijatović, Ph.D., a full professor at FON and a project leader at Hsbooster.eu; Mr Boban Poznanović, Delivery Manager at Levi9 and a co-founder of the Serbian AI Society; Ms Ekatarina Bubenko, Business Analyst at Nordeus; and Ms Ana Janićijević, Tech Recruiter at TX Services.

In addition to participating in workshops and teamwork activities, the participants had the opportunity to visit Novi Sad and Sremski Karlovci, as well as to explore the city of Belgrade, its rich historical heritage and cultural and entertainment contents.

By participating in FON’s summer school, students have earned 3 ECTS credits, a Certificate of Attendance of the summer school as a supplement to their diplomas, and also received a SAS digital badge on the completion of the course ‘Visual Analytics 1 for SAS Viya: Basics.
